People’s Law Resource Center

A nonprofit organization serving the legal needs of the

people and communities in the Washington, DC area.

PLRC’s services are designed to address needs in two general areas.  We provide advocacy and representation in appropriate cases to individuals whose rights as consumers, tenants, employees, or applicants for public benefits have been violated.  In addition, we offer various resources to community organizations and direct service providers, to help them understand legal developments that affect them and their constituents.

Our Services

Too many Washington residents have difficulty asserting and vindicating their rights because of lack of access to quality and affordable legal assistance.  PLRC provides advocacy and representation to individuals and groups with claims related to decent, safe and fair housing, consumer rights, civil rights, and government misconduct.

Individual advocacy and representation

The problems facing our communities require systemic solutions, through complementary and effective community organizations.  All nonprofits face serious challenges, however.  PLRC seeks to aid direct service providers in helping their constituents understand their legal options, and to help the programs themselves understand how they will be impacted by changes in the regulatory and legal landscape.
